$200MM Business Unit Strategic Carve Out

Background

A human capital and benefit administration solutions firm with thousands of employees globally serving over 1,400 business clients, decided to divest one of their business segments into a completely new entity.

Problems

With the divestiture of one business segment, a complete reimagining of the infrastructure, technology stack, and finance/accounting functions needed to be accomplished to operate almost independently from the parent company. AG was engaged to guide the accounting/finance structure as well as create system requirements for the new entity.

AG’s Approach & results

AG’s tasks included the following:

  • Led diligence to assess current state and understand core operations, technology stack, and future needs of the finance/accounting function.
  • Determined most suitable technology solutions to implement going forward
  • Provided thorough strategy on the financial system and how to convert from parent firm systems yet still support necessary reporting
  • Created a robust finance/accounting department structure that utilized the new entity’s resources and AG resources.
